Partner and Attorney of the Southfield, Michigan personal injury law firm
of Goodman Acker P.C.,
Barry Goodman, was a part of the Distinguished Clown Corps this past Thanksgiving at
America's Thanksgiving Day Parade held in downtown Detroit.
The Distinguished Clown Corps is a by invitation-only privilege that carries
a required $1,000.00 donation to support the Michigan Thanksgiving Parade
Foundation (The Parade Company). With the acceptance of being a part of
the Corps, volunteers walk in the parade wearing full costume, passing
out beads and greeting everyone.
For more than two decades, the Distinguished Clown Corps has been a part
of America's Thanksgiving Day Parade with over 2,000 volunteers. For
Barry Goodman, this was his first year participating as a clown in the
Distinguished Clown Corps.
"I knew of men previously that gave their time over the years and
thought it was my time to give back to the city during its new Renaissance,"
says Goodman of why he decided to accept the nomination to the Distinguished
Clown Corps and get involved this year.
"The faces of the children, from infants to toddlers, to young boys
and girls, of when they saw the wild and crazy Clown Corps were priceless,
and the visions of their smiles still dance in my head. Not to mention
the excitement of the crowd as we walked down the street passing out the
several strands of beads that we were draped with. There are many ways
to give back to the City. This was clearly one of the most memorable and
enjoyable ones to do," says Goodman.
The Michigan Thanksgiving Parade Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit
organization. The purpose of the organization is to stage and perpetuate
America's Thanksgiving Parade ensuring that the parade remains a vital
part of metropolitan Detroit's cultural community.
Goodman received his undergraduate degree from Bradley University and his
J.D. from Stetson University College of Law. He joined forces with Attorney
