JORDAN B. ACKER

Partner Jordan Acker on what Makes Goodman Acker the Best

His career began as a communications assistant for the Michigan Democratic Party in 2006. In addition to volunteering for President Barack Obama ’s historic 2008 campaign, Acker was appointed by the President in March of 2011 to be an attorney-advisor to Secretary Janet Napolitano at the Department of Homeland Security. While at Homeland Security, he worked on cyber, immigration, and other homeland security issues.

A second-generation Goodman Acker attorney, problem solving runs in Jordan’s blood. He is passionate about turning a tough case into a great settlement and getting to know his clients in the process.

“My first trial win will always be one of my most inspiring professional milestones. I had worked very hard for my client and wanted nothing more than justice for him. When that jury ruled the insurance company was liable, I texted the whole office ‘We WON!’. There’s nothing quite like it. Since joining Goodman Acker, Acker has focused not just on the legal side, but also in growing the firm and being hands-on in the process. He works on personal injury litigation, including auto accidents, first party claims and premises liability, as well as doing political consulting, working with several political clients. He is not only an advocate for those who have been injured and their families, but he has also been an advocate for medical providers who treat injured victims.

On November 6, 2018, Jordan was elected statewide as a Regent of the University of Michigan, with over 1.7 million votes. In his sixth year of statewide service, Jordan has focused on reducing costs for Michigan families, protecting students, staff, and faculty from sexual misconduct, and advocating for the role of college athletics on campus.

His commentary on many different issues has been featured across state and national media, including the New York Times, the Detroit Free Press, Fox 2, PBS, ESPN, the Detroit News, WDIV, NBC, MLive/The Ann Arbor News, the Washington Post, the Associated Press, the Athletic, and many others.
