Detroit Personal Injury Lawyers Fighting For The Injured

Auto Insurance Companies - Who is the Best?

There are a ton of insurance companies out there. How do you know which one is the best choice to protect you and your family? “As a practicing attorney in the area of auto accident and no-fault law, I as well as my entire team at Goodman Acker deal with the insurance companies every day fighting for our client’s right to obtain the benefits the rightfully deserve. Unfortunately the truth of the matter is that many of these insurance companies, even some of most well-known larger agencies often have a motive for profits over their auto insured clients,” says Senior Partner Jerry Acker.

So who is the best insurance company? According to a report done by J.D. Power, Auto Owners Insurance proved to rank the highest in customer service satisfaction among auto insurer’s in the North Central Region of the U.S. Michigan is included in the North Central Region. The study measured customer satisfaction across five factors: interaction, price, policy offerings, billing and payment, and claims.

Another key finding that was interesting from this study was that most improvement this year at the insurer level comes from the smaller insurers in the industry. In fact according to this study, in aggregate, the 20 largest insurers based on the amount of premiums improve by 10 points in 2014, compared with 2013, while the smallest insurers, those outside of the largest 30, improve by 41 points.

Of course, every state is different and because Michigan is a no-fault stateauto insurance companies play an even more important role in a person’s life should they become a victim of a fatal auto accident. Under Michigan law, regardless of who is at fault, injured parties may be entitled to reimbursement from their insurance company for reasonable and necessary benefits. These benefits can include medical bills, attendant care services (in-home nursing care), replacement services, and more.

This is a tremendous benefit to those who are residents of Michigan, however unfortunately the insurance companies often do not comply and will deny or delay payment to a victim. In such scenario, a person does need the assistance of an attorney who has significant experience in handling auto and no-fault claims. This is because an experienced lawyer will know how to deal with the insurance company. In addition, no-fault claims are very paper intensive and time intensive and without the right team working on your claim, you may lose out on reimbursement from the insurance company.

“Unfortunately there is no golden ticket to finding the best possible auto insurance company out there. However, I can say with my experience that just as the J.D. Study found, often times the smaller insurance companies tend to be better than many of Michigan’s largest insurance companies.”
