Lyon Township Car Accident Lawsuit Filed For U-Turn Collision

On October 13, 2014, our Goodman Acker P.C. client was involved in an automobile accident on Currie Road in Lyon Township, Michigan (Oakland County). The collision took place at approximately 2:45 in the afternoon at the intersection of Currie Road and 10 Mile Road.

Our client was driving eastbound on 10 Mile Road, near Currie Road, when another driver driving northbound on Currie Road, at the intersection of 10 Mile Road, attempted to make a U-turn. When the driver attempted to make the U-turn, he failed to yield to oncoming traffic and therefore carelessly and negligently turned into oncoming traffic, slamming into the front of our client’s vehicle.

As a result of the Lyon Township car accident, our client suffered severe, permanent and progressive injuries. Her injuries include, but are not limited to: cervical disc herniations, lumbar disc herniations, abrasions and contusions, shock, fright, and mental anguish, severe pain and suffering, emotional distress, and other conditions that may have not manifested themselves at this current time.

Due to her injuries and the acts of negligence of the other driver, our client is entitled to compensation for her pain and suffering, as well as payment for the reasonable and necessary care and treatment of her injuries. Her injuries have not only impacted her life at its current state, but our client will not be able to participate in activities a normal, healthy individual is able to perform in the future as well.

Our Goodman Acker P.C. car accident attorneys have filed a lawsuit in Oakland County Circuit Court on her behalf. We are seeking maximum payment for her pain and suffering damages against the at-fault driver. Some of the arguments our car accident lawyers will use to prove that the driver was at-fault and was the cause for our clients injuries include, but are not limited to:

  • The driver was in violation of their duty to not turn his/her vehicle from a straight line without first seeing that such movement could be made safely;
  • The driver was in violation of their duty to use the proper lanes in traveling on highways and therefore is guilty of improper lane usage;
  • The driver failed to timely use the brakes in which the vehicle was equipped;
  • The driver drove the vehicle in a careless, reckless and negligent manner.

Lyon Township is located in the southwest corner of Oakland County. The community has grown over the last few years due to its increase in residential developments created in the township.
