Detroit Personal Injury Lawyers Fighting For The Injured

Semi-Truck Accident Victim Speaks Out About Drowsy Driving | Goodman Acker Appears on WXYZ Channel 7 News

On Thursday, June 1st WXYZ Channel 7 Detroit News interviewed our client, a 21-year old college student who was run over by a semi-truck on the shoulder of Northbound I-75 Expressway.

He was a pedestrian lawfully standing on the shoulder of the expressway near 9 Mile Road Exit in Hazel Park when a semi-truck ran off the expressway, struck a concrete wall and turned into our client. As a result, he was knocked to the ground and run over by the front and back tires of the truck.

The semi-truck was being operated by defendant Daniel Sexton. Sexton allegedly fell asleep at the wheel at the time of the accident.

Our client was attending college at Wayne State University at the time of the accident and was about to accept a position at Beaumont Hospital. Due to his serious injuries, he is not able to attend school and was unable to accept that positon.

Some of his injuries include a closed head injury with lacerations and staples to the scalp, neck and back injuries, bilateral shoulders, hands, legs, and feet injuries.

Goodman Acker, P.C. Senior Partner, Barry Goodman, is representing the victim against the trucking company and the defendant driver, Sexton.

The lawsuit filed in Oakland County Circuit Court seeks compensation for our client's medical bills and pain and suffering.

“We will diligently fight to ensure (the victim) receives the justice and compensation he deserves. We also hope this lawsuit serves as a wake-up call for trucking that force their drivers to push the limits,” said Goodman.
