Goodman Acker P.C. is proud to have volunteered with Life Remodeled on helping finish renovations at the Durfee Innovation Community Center in Detriot, a community innovation building focused on entrepreneurship, employment, and education.
The Durfee Innovation Society exists to create substantial and impactful opportunities for children, families and adults across Detroit, while advancing collaboration among the eight major sectors: arts, business, education, faith-based, government, human services, media and philanthropy.
Our entire staff volunteered, as well as seven members of the American Association for Justice New Lawyers Division. Tasks included lawn mowing, outdoor landscaping, painting, indoor & classroom cleanup, and moving wheel barrows into a storage facility.
In addition, several of our Goodman Acker P.C. attorneys mentored roughly 20 Detroit Central High School students interested in law as a career.
Life Remolded helps bridge people across divides in order to help transform lives, by investing approximately $5 million in cash, labor and materials into one Detroit neighborhood every year. Projects are determined by the community’s needs and vision, and they assist in: (1) remodeling a community asset, (2) repairing owner-occupied homes, and (3) mobilizing thousands of volunteers to clean up the city.
