Detroit is a culturally and ethnically diverse area with people of many backgrounds and cultures who often have specific legal needs. For people for whom English is a second language, it may sometimes be helpful to speak with an attorney who can communicate with you in your native language. Goodman Acker, P.c. recently welcomed Attorney Ronita Bahri to our accomplished legal team.

Attorney Bahri understands the unique struggles Middle Eastern clients may have after moving to Michigan. She is a native of Iraq and became a refugee in the United States at 8 years old. She is proud of her heritage.

  • She is trilingual. She can speak fluently in Arabic, Aramaic, and English.

  • She graduated from Wayne State University in 2011 magna cum laude with a Bachelor in Political Science and Psychology.

  • Attorney Bahri received her juris doctorate from the University of San Francisco, School of Law.

  • She served as president of the Middle Eastern Law Student Association.

  • She was chief executive editor of the Law and Global Justice Forum.

  • She served as co-chair of the Student Bar Association's Diversity Committee.

In addition to her outstanding scholastic career, Ms. Bahri worked as a legal and policy associate for Michigan Community Resources and assisted in aiding start-up nonprofits. She also interned at the San Francisco Public Defenders Office.

About Attorney Bahri's Chaldean Culture

Although Attorney Bahri's family immigrated to the United States, she has maintained her Chaldean cultural roots. Chaldean-Americans are a religious culture and consider themselves Chaldean Christians.

Near the start of the 20th century, Chaldeans started immigrating to the United States and many families settled in Michigan. In many cases, Chaldeans came to the United States to flee religious persecution in the Middle East and find religious freedom. Nearly 75,000 Chaldeans called the Detroit-area home by the early 1990s.

Chaldean-American communities tend to have large families, be multilingual and run family-owned businesses. Detroit has a large Chaldean-American community, with the majority of the Chaldean-Americans residing inside the city limits.

Attorney Bahri is proud to serve those clients as an Aramaic and Arabic-speaking lawyer. She understands the issues that Chaldean-Americans face and can help clients overcome legal obstacles. As a hardworking, caring and knowledgeable lawyer who provides attentive client service, Attorney Bahri embodies the core values that distinguish the legal team at Goodman Acker, P.C.
