Our Detroit auto accident attorneys announced the Driver Safety Scholarship contest. The Southfield personal injury law firm of Goodman Acker is happy to announce its first ever Driver Safety Scholarship contest. The scholarship is a part of the firm's commitment to the community and dedication to making the roads and highways safer for both drivers and passengers.

Texting and driving poses a serious safety hazard to all drivers, however the younger generation poses an even greater risk due to the fact that they are more likely to text and drive. The Goodman Acker Driver Safety Scholarship will give young drivers an opportunity to speak out and earn some money for college while helping to impact lives.

All 2015 graduating high school seniors and/or current students attending a college and/or university may apply for the scholarship fund. To enter the contest, applicants must fill out a submission form and submit a minimum of 1000 word essay on the dangers of texting and driving. The applicant who has the most informative and clever essay with a fresh take on the dangers of texting and driving will be selected as the winner.

"The tone can be light-hearted or serious, as long as it is catchy and original. We know that our state has the brightest talent and we are confident that our young people have some great ideas," said Goodman Acker P.C. accident attorney, Jordan Acker.

The winner will be determined by a review committee at the law firm of Goodman Acker and will be awarded $1,000.00 towards their college education. The cash prize will be awarded as a check from the law firm and must be used to pay for college tuition and educational-related expenses.

Those applying must submit a complete entry package by 11:59 p.m. EST December 31, 2014. The winner will be selected by January 31st, 2015 and notified by February 6th, 2015.

"Sending text messages takes drivers' eyes off the road, their hands off the wheel and their mind off the task of driving and remaining alert for oncoming traffic. What can we do in our communities to convey to young drivers that texting and driving leads to serious and avoidable accidents? We are confident our young people have some good ideas," says Acker.
