An AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell has been the highest peer rating standard in the legal community since 1896. At Goodman Acker P.C., we are pleased to congratulate our founding and managing partner, Gerald H. Acker, for meeting this standard in 2020.To receive an AV Preeminent Rating, attorneys must be ranked at the highest level of professional excellence. Their peers must recognize them for outstanding legal expertise, unmatched communication skills, and high ethical standards.
Breaking Down Attorney Acker’s AV Rating
Before 1887, clients had no reliable method for finding trustworthy, ethical, and skilled attorneys. Then, Martindale-Hubbell published its American Law Directory and its rating system began to develop. Although the organization’s Peer Review Rating system has evolved since the 1800s, the purpose remains the same.
Historically, Martindale-Hubbell used an “A, B, C” scale to rank attorneys. An ‘A’ rating meant a lawyer had “Very High” legal ability and years of experience. If the lawyer had a ‘V’ next to their rating, it meant their peers rated their ethical standards as “Very High,” as well.
To this day, an AV Rating means an attorney has reached the height of professional excellence and is known by their peers for skill and integrity.
