Goodman Acker partner Brad Peri was recently featured in Detroit Legal News for his continued commitment to supporting ALS of Michigan through the 11th Annual Swing for a Cure golf outing.

Held August 21 at Orchards Golf Club in Macomb County, this year’s event brought together more than 70 golfers to honor the memory of Brad’s late mother, Jean, and raise funds for individuals and families affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

The outing raised $13,000 for ALS of Michigan, bringing the total raised through the annual fundraiser to well over $100,000 since its inception. Goodman Acker has proudly served as the event’s lead sponsor for all 11 years.

A Personal Mission to Make a Difference

Brad founded Swing for a Cure in memory of his mother, who passed away from ALS in April 2015. During her illness, ALS of Michigan provided critical support to the Peri family, including equipment and resources that helped Jean communicate and manage her changing needs.

That experience inspired Brad to create an event that would honor his mother while helping other families navigate the challenges of an ALS diagnosis.

Over the years, Swing for a Cure has also become a family tradition, bringing together Brad, his wife Jill, their children, and friends in support of a cause that remains deeply personal.

The annual outing combines fundraising with a day of golf and camaraderie, including a memorable closest-to-the-pin contest in which participants take their shots while wearing high heels, a tribute to Jean’s love of shoes.

Supporting the Community Beyond the Courtroom

At Goodman Acker, supporting the community is an important part of who we are. We are proud to stand behind Brad and his continued efforts to raise awareness and provide meaningful support for individuals and families affected by ALS.

We congratulate Brad and everyone who helped make this year’s Swing for a Cure a success, and we look forward to seeing the event’s impact continue in the years ahead.
