The event was held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Sahara Restaurant and Banquet Center. The one-of-a-kind cultural experience showcased the thriving history and traditions of the Chaldean Assyrian Syriac people. Throughout the evening, attendees were able to explore the cuisine, music, fashion, art, and language of one of the world’s oldest and most influential cultures.
Support Emergency Relief & Cultural Preservation
In 2014, the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac people were forced to flee Nineveh after ISIS destroyed and desecrated 12,970 homes, 363 churches, and 140 public properties. Since then, the people of this ancient city have been compromised by Arab, Syrian, Iranian, and western influences. The Shlama Foundation is dedicated to supporting these families as they attempt to rebuild their lives and preserve their culture.
Thanks to donations, The Shlama Foundation has been able to implement these massive projects:
- Rebuilt homes, businesses, and churches
- Removed Islamic State graffiti from statues and monuments
- Developed youth activities and education
- Returned water to Dashqutan village
- Provided rent-free homes to families in need
Caring for People at Home & Abroad
Detroit is home to the largest Assyrian Chaldean Syriac diaspora in the United States. When ISIS decimated Nineveh in 2014, over 100,000 Detroiters felt the tragedy deep in their hearts. At Goodman Acker, P.C., we are passionate about supporting the residents living in our wonderful and culturally diverse community. For this reason, we are proud to support The Shlama Foundation and their efforts to connect and support the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac people living around the world.
We are also proud to have one of our very own Attorney Ronita Bahri as a longstanding member and volunteer for The Shlama Foundation. Bahri is pictured at the event, middle, with her sister and friend.
We give 100% to our clients and the city of Detroit. Contact Goodman Acker, P.C. at (248) 286-8100 if you have questions about this fundraising event or need to discuss your case with one of our Detroit personal injury lawyers.
